Fresh ginger tea has been comforting and warming. I'm drinking plenty of water and having green(ish) smoothies, too.
But this virus has been a real bugger and I finally broke down and went to the doctor. It's been years since I've been to a traditional western doctor for anything except the yearly girly visit. I haven't even had a primary care physician, because I haven't needed one. I'm happy to report that I got lucky and was assigned to a young, new doctor that's totally supportive of my veggie ways and he's helping me to get over this hump of illness with no pressure to come and see him again unless I feel like I need to. He said that I appear to be healthy and taking care of myself and he's there for me if the need arises. Very cool.
Hopefully I'll be feeling better by Monday. I really want to get off the couch and back to work and feeling like myself again. Oh yeah, I had some great oatmeal this week with bananas, sunflower seeds, pecans, cinnamon and maple syrup. Really good sicky food:
Other sicky eats from the week have been spicy veggie pho, chocolate mint toffuti cuties, the most delicious tomato soup made by Tim, and a yummy recreation of bbq jackfruit sandwiches, also made by Tim. He's been under the weather too, but handling it much better than I am.
Happy Friday to all and I hope you have a great weekend! I'm looking forward to Puppy Bowl!
I hope you feel better really soon! Sound like you have a good partner there taking care of you. And good eats too. I am usually in the let the cold do its thing camp, but I have had some nasty sinus infections that seem to need western medicine involvement. It's always a fine line to know what to do. Rest is always good too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Aimee. I am very lucky to have such good help around here :). This was a sinus/lung thing, but luckily I caught it before the bacteria took over, so no antibiotics needed. Just a few comfort measures so I could breathe/stop hacking and sleep. I'm planning on a restful weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you are sick, and I hope you get better soon! It sounds like you found a great, supportive doctor. That is quite enviable actually. Your sick time eats look really yummy, the smoothie is a beautiful color and those oats look comforting, warming and nourishing. Rest up an get well soon!
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteTofutti Cuties are essential to recovering from an illness!
ReplyDeleteGet better soon!! I always get super pathetic when I'm sick too, which happily isn't too often. You definitely scored on the doctor front - it seems like gooders are hard to come by. Fresh ginger tea is the best - I love it with a little squeeze of fresh lemon.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I rarely get sick too - it makes it that much worse when it does happen, doesn't it? I have a problem with doctors..but it sounds like you got a pretty cool one. The oatmeal looks absolutely fabulous and creamy and filled with good stuffs, as does yr smoothie. I bet that pho will kick the sick right outta ya. Feel better!
ReplyDeleteTrue. Never being sick makes me feel like I'm dyyyyying when I do catch a little something. I def got lucky with the young doc. Very open minded, supportive, helpful. And, yes, pho makes everything better :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Allysia. I've been drinking warm lemon water too, which is really nice.
ReplyDeleteYes they are!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Leslie! I'm feeling a little better today :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sarah. I plan on getting off the couch today :)
ReplyDeleteBummer you've been sick but hopefully by the time you're reading this you're feeling even better. Hope you and Tim get well soon!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the other day about my own doc. I haven't seen her in years, in fact, can't remember her name. ha ha! Probably should find one "just in case" but hopefully that won't be anytime soon.
Take care!
Once I realized that I might need to see a doctor I panicked because I had no idea where to start. I, too, don't remember the name of the last doctor I saw. Luckily my insurance made it easy and I got in to see a primary care doc within a few hours. Hopefully by the time I need to see him again I'll have forgotten his name too, haha.
